This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to establish extrication systems and stabilise and transport to safety casualties involved in underground mining incidents.

It applies to those who work in operational roles. They generally work in teams and have some responsibility for the outcomes of others.

Pre-requisite Unit

RIIERR303E – Operate in a self-contained regenerative oxygen breathing apparatus

PUAFIR207B – Operate breathing apparatus open circuit

All learners must be able to read and comprehend English to a level that will enable them to safely perform duties as specified in the competency standard. PreStart Safety & Training recognises that some learners may require more support to meet the requirements of the training course. We will endeavour to meet these needs with regards to; language, literacy and numeracy skills. Learners are encouraged, prior to commencing the course and where applicable, to complete an PreStart Safety & Training LLN analysis, which will assist the Trainer/Assessor to interpret individual skill level and manage this from the onset. Learners must complete and return a pre-course assessment (as supplied by PreStart Safety & Training).

 

All successful applicants will receive a nationally recognised Statement of Attainment: Extricate casualties from underground incidents – RIIERR307E.
