CERTIFICATE GAINED

This unit of competency involves the skills and knowledge required to coordinate a Search and Rescue (SAR) incident, in accordance with organisational policies and procedures.

The unit is applicable to individuals undertaking limited search and rescue activities in support of national Search and Rescue (SAR) authorities. Team members and crews may be members of a range of government and/or non-government agencies or organisations.

Pre-requisite Unit

None

All learners must be able to read and comprehend English to a level that will enable them to safely perform duties as specified in the competency standard. PreStart Safety & Training recognises that some learners may require more support to meet the requirements of the training course. We will endeavour to meet these needs with regards to; language, literacy and numeracy skills. Learners are encouraged, prior to commencing the course and where applicable, to complete an PreStart Safety & Training LLN analysis, which will assist the Trainer/Assessor to interpret individual skill level and manage this from the onset. Learners must complete and return a pre-course assessment (as supplied by PreStart Safety & Training).

All successful applicants will receive a nationally recognised Statement of Attainment: Coordinate search and rescue operations – PUAAMS007.
